What is acetaminophen and tramadol?
Acetaminophen is a more potent analgesic that increases the effects of tramadol.
The combination of tramadol and acetaminophen is used to treat moderate to severe pain.
Acetaminophen and tramadol May also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking acetaminophen and tramadol?
You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to acetaminophen and tramadol, if you are intoxicated (drunk), or if you recently used any of the following:
* Alcohol;
* Narcotic pain medicine;
* Tranquilizers or sedatives (such as Valium);
* Medications for depression or anxiety;
* Medications for mental illness (such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia), or
* The street drugs.
Talk to your doctor if you drink more than three alcoholic beverages per day or if you have alcoholic liver disease (cirrhosis). May you not be able to take medication that contains acetaminophen.
Seizures have occurred in some tramadol and acetaminophen. The risk of a crisis in May have been higher if you have any of these conditions:
* A history of drug or alcohol;
* A history of epilepsy or other seizure disorder;
* A history of head injury;
* A metabolic disorder;
* An infection of the brain or spinal cord, such as meningitis or encephalitis;
* If you take an antidepressant, mood stabilizer, narcotics or other pain medicine, or
* If you have taken a MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) within 14 days.
